The island is only accessible by boat, from the port of Keramoti -about 30 minutes from the city of Kavala and the city of Xanthi-, with boats leaving every half hour, until late at night, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles (an approximate 35-minute ferry ride). Kavala can be reached by car, bus or plane (Kavala International Airport is located approximately 15 minutes by car from Keramoti) from Athens and a number of European cities. Last but not least, there are many public buses that can take you around the island and the most popular beaches.
